When I first started this blog 10 months ago, I didn’t know if anyone would even read it. But I wanted a creative outlet to write about what I enjoy most in life: parenthood and traveling. At the time, I didn’t really care if people read it. It was my personal corner of the Internet to document my little family’s adventures. I knew someday, my daughter would eventually read it, and that was all that mattered. Overtime though, my website has evolved, and as more people started stumbling upon this blog, commenting on posts and emailing to ask travel-related questions, I started to view myself as a legitimate travel blogger. So when I recently receive the Versatile Blogger award, it was further validation that I am on the right track… especially because the person who nominated me is someone whose blog I highly respect and enjoy reading.

Parenthood and Passports | Versatile Blogger AwardVersatile Blogger Award Guidelines

As with other blogger-to-blogger awards, like the Liebster Award, the Versatile Blogger Award, comes with a few rules.
This is how it works โ€“ by accepting the Versatile Blogger nomination you must:
  • Thank the person who gave you the award and include a link to their blog
  • Nominate other bloggers who inspire you
  • Share several random things about yourself

How we got nominated

Parenthood & Passports was nominated by Praful and Neha at Happily Tanned. They are an amazing and fun couple from India who love to travel just as much as Damon and me. I love reading their posts about their own country (which I desperately want to visit) as well as their posts about other equally great destinations. I met Neha through a Facebook group, but had already discovered her blog onย  WordPress. Thanks for the nomination Neha!

Random facts about me:

1: I didn’t travel much until I turned 30, mostly because I spent the better half of my my 20s trying to “make it” as a television news reporter. I moved around from city to city, and eventually landed a job in one of the largest TV markets in the US. Then, after 5 years in that market, I walked away from the job I loved for a man I loved even more. I haven’t regretted it for a second!

2: I’ve lived in 7 cities and 3 different states.
3: I’ve never stayed in a hostel. By the time I started traveling, I preferred hotels over the idea of sharing a dorm with a bunch of strangers. Now that we have a daughter, it’s almost certainly out of the question.

4: I dream of living abroad someday… but that probably won’t happen until my husband retires. (do it while your young ladies and gentlemen… careers tend to get in the way of those dreams)
5: We have a 10-year travel plan of all the countries we want to visit over the next decade. Cuba, China and South Korea are all on the list for 2017.

6: Cambodia tops my current bucket list. Antarctica tops my husband’s. Both are on our 10-year travel plan.

And one more bonus fact: I wrote this blog post while on a plane. ๐Ÿ™‚

Bloggers I am nominating:

Mindful Mermaid: Alex is a super fashionable travelista who is currently exploring Croatia. Her pictures will make you jealous.

Zo Around the World: Zo is from England and spends her free time traveling. She has great tips and advice for budget-friendly options abroad.

Nomad Epicureans: Mihir and Jacky are another traveling couple. They’re based in Finland, although originally from India and Austria respectively. They are absolutely adorable, and I love reading other couple’s adventures in travel!

I am nominating these bloggers because I love their sense of adventure, their passion for traveling, and their ability to tell a good story. I’d encourage you to check out their blogs as well as Happily Tanned. Once again, thanks Neha for the nomination!
